  1. Pentecost and Torah
    1. Pentecost is not a New Testament celebration.
      1. It is a celebration of the giving of the Torah
      2. Israel camped in front of the mountain
      3. Word for camped is singular so they camp in front of the mountain
      4. When the day of Pentecost came they were all with one accord in one place.
      5. Congregation formed which is also the word for church.
    2. Prepare yourselves for God is going to move on the third day. Exodus 19: 16
    3. People saw the fire, trumpet, cloud and lightening flashes. 15 – 18
      1. Seventy languages spoken and sparks came upon the people
  2. The  Three Feasts
    1. Pentecost is one of three pilgrimage festivals that the Israelites are to make each year.
    2. Deuteronomy 16: 1 – 16
    3. Messiah relationship.
      1. Pesach or Passover death and resurrection.
      2. Shavuot or Pentecost Giving of the Holy Spirit
      3. Sukkot looks forward to the Messianic Age when Jesus will reign out of Jerusalem.
    4. Passover = you will sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God from the flock and the herd in the place where the LORD chooses to establish His name. Deuteronomy 16: 2
    5. Pentecost second period where the believers were gathered all together in one place where they were sitting
    6. Sukkot third temple as it says the LORD will create over the whole area of Mount Zion and over her assemblies a cloud by day there will be a Sukkah to give shade from the heat of day and refuge and protection from he storm and the rain.  Isaiah 4: 5, 6 They will go up year to year to worship the King the LORD of hosts and to celebrate the Feast of Booths Zechariah 14: 16
    7. Future of Feasts
      1. Passover is the future tabernacle with the blood of Jesus
      2. Tabernacle is we will dwell with God forever
      3. Pentecost lord himself will teach us. Isaiah 54:13
      4. These feasts were to help the children of Israel keep their identity by coming together three times a year.   The problem is that they did not keep them
        1. 2 Chronicles 30: 5 not celebrating the Passover
        2. 2 Chronicles 35: 18 never since Samuel a Passover like this
      5. Booth on a roof Nehemiah 8: 17 did not celebrate it since the days of Joshua
        1. We have no record of them ever keeping Pentecost.
  3. Jesus and Pentecost
    1. Jesus went up to celebrate the feasts Luke 2: 42
    2. People celebrated as they travel by the thousands to Jerusalem Psalm 84: 6 but after the destruction of the temple people no longer traveled Lamentation 1: 4 Psalm 42: 5
    3. When Jesus returns, the people will once again travel these roads Isaiah 2: 3 even the gentiles will come Zechariah 14: 16
    4. Leviticus 23: 21 Pentecost means 50 the Hebrew word means weeks or seven weeks of days between Passover and the festival of the 50th day.
    5. Giving of the Torah
      1. Torah is not law, but teaching
      2. The idea is to interpret the will of God concerning a situation
      3. EXAMPLE: an eye for an eye was not literal but what would bring justice to a situation.
    6. Jesus came to teach the will of God concerning our lives with God and a situation with others.
      1. Word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14
      2. He taught as one who had authority Matthew 7:29
    7. There are a couple of symbols of the Torah
      1. Water Isaiah 55:1 everyone who thirst go to the waters! He who has no money go buy food eat Yes, go buy wine and milk without money and without price. How do we know this is talking about Torah?  Ephesians 5:26 so that He (Jesus) would sanctify his wife making her pure by washing with the word of Torah
        1. Jesus is living water John 4:14
      2. Light Proverbs 6:23 for the commandment is a lamp and the Torah is light and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. Spiritual illumination to God’s will
        1. Jesus is the light of the world. John 8:12
  4. The Holy Spirit and Torah
    1. If you love me keep my commandments. John 14:15
    2. Spirit will guide you into all truth. John 16:13
      1. Holy Spirit came and they were all cut to the heart Acts 2:37
    3. We are called to go and teach making disciples. While doing this, we will have signs that will follow us to confirm our work
    4. Future Pentecost, Jesus himself will teach us the Torah
    5. What was it like to keep the festivals the first year after Messiah came.  Pentecost one year ago 120 now thousands.
    6. I am going to give them my Torah so they can know me
      1. Camp = In One accord
      2. Fire = tongues of Fire
      3. Shaking = Mighty wind
      4. Other languages = Spoke in other languages
      5. Hearts exposed = cut to the heart.
