Your Promises, by Elevation Worship. This is one of my favorite songs. I love the lyrics.

Doesn’t matter what I feel
Doesn’t matter what I see
My hope will always be
In Your promises to me

These lyrics help to remind that God is trustworthy and His word (promise) will not fail.  It’s not about circumstances. It’s all about God.

Did you know there are more than 3,000 promises in the bible? Here are just a few that we can stand on.

  1. Reconciliation with God – Romans 5:6-10
  2. Forgiveness of sins – 1 John 1:9
  3. God’s presence with us – Deuteronomy 31:8
  4. God’s promises to be our…help, strength, provision, guidance, peace, and security.

Standing on the Promises of God

Russell Kelso Carter wrote the hymn Standing on the Promises of God.

This is the story behind that Song:
Russell Kelso Carter was an ordained Methodist minister. At age 30, Carter found out that his heart was failing him. There was nothing the doctors could do for him. He turned to God for help.

He made a promise that if he was healed or not, that his life would be fully given to the Lord. It was in that moment that the Bible became alive to Carter. He began to stand upon the promises of healing. He was determined to believe in God’s provision, even if his symptoms were worsening. Over the next several months, his strength returned and his heart was completely healed. In fact, Carter lived another 49 years.
