1.  No thoughts of God

  3. Man kinds continual slide

    2. There was no room for God in any of their thoughts
    3. No moral compass for what is right and wrong.
      1. Problem when everyone did what was right in their own eyes.
      2. Judges 17: 6 Micah and Levite.  Everyone did what they thought was right in their own eyes.
      3. THERE IS NEVER A PROGRESSION, WHEN WE KICK GOD OUT OF THE PICTURE.
  4. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be when the Lord returns. Matthew 24: 37

  5. Moral slide of a society Romans 1: 18 – 32
    1. Refusal to acknowledge God
    2. Make up own rules.
    3. Encourage others as we kick God out of the public square.

2. Character of God

  1. Not angry and wiped people off the face of the earth
  2. Not an angry God and a nice Jesus.
  3. Genesis 6: 6 It grieved Him in His heart.
    1. Kill people because God is mad?
      1. How many 14 year old prostitutes before you do something
      2. How many abortions with no chance to live
      3. How many Meth babies born addicted.
    2. Mad or coming to the defense of the defenseless Isaiah 59: 12 – 17

3. Someone to stand in the gap.

  1. Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord Genesis 6: 8
    1. Only two people are mentioned as finding favor and both delivered the people from catastrophe.  Moses is the other one.
  2. Walked with God does not mean did good things compared to the bad things other people did.
    1. Enoch walked with God. Genesis 5: 23
  3. Favor here means grace.
    1. Noah responded to the grace of God that was being poured out on mankind.
    2. Perfect in his generation and walked with God
      1. righteous in his generation and walked with God
      2. First time righteous is used in the bible
      3. Righteous means two things.
        1. Standing before God
        2. Acts we do in response to that standing.
      4. 2 Corinthians 5; 21 GOD MADE HIM WHO KNEW NO SIN TO BECOME SIN FOR US SO WE COULD BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST.
      5. To sum it up Noah responded to God’s righteousness and found favor
    3. God was going to use him to deliver mankind from annihilation

4. Mind Strongholds

  1. 2 Corinthians 10: 1, 2 some will always see us as just walking in the flesh, never as a person of righteousness.
  2. Punish every act of disobedience when our own obedience is achieved.
    1. Renewed mind in Christ. Romans 12: 1, 2
    2. Thoughts we are attacked with and become strongholds
      1. Anger and bitterness
      2. Possessions and envy
      3. Lust of flesh
      4. Lust of eyes
      5. Pride of life
    3. Accept God’s grace to cast down these strongholds.
  3. Imaginations which are not true
  4. Take captive every thought.
    1. No such thing as innocent thoughts.
  5. We can do this through the power of righteousness Jesus gave us.

5. Setting others free

  1. When our obedience is complete we are ready to tear down strongholds.
  2. Like Noah do the impossible
    1. He had one promise and he kept at it for 120 years.
    2. He did what he was commanded.
  3. He preached to sinners 2 Peter 2: 5 Preacher of righteousness
  4. No one repented, but Noah kept going.
  5. God knows how to spare those who love him from judgement 2 Peter 2: 9
  6. God patient in keeping his promises 2 Peter 2: 8
