Everyone does not hear the same
Mark 4: 24, 25 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you–and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what little understanding they have will be taken from him.
Life of Abraham
- No idea where he was going
- He was already 75 years old
- No idea how long he would travel
- No internet to look up Promised Land
- When he got there there was a famine.
- Only word to rely on was “I am the Lord your God
Must not of heard from God.
In the midst of our problems, how does God answer us? Trust my word
God does not allow His people to suffer needlessly
Israel cried out in Jeremiah 12: 4 The Lord doesn’t see what’s ahead for us.
God’s answer in Jeremiah 12: 5
[God’s Answer] “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan
Paul states plainly, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
Noise: “Lord, I’m down and discouraged. You promised you wouldn’t allow me to carry any burden that’s too heavy, without making a way of escape. But right now I’m overwhelmed. If only you would tell me what this is all about.”
Psalm 32: 6 – 8 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. “Selah” 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you
Noise “Lord, I feel so helpless. My strength is nearly gone. Fear and doubts plague my mind. I can’t see any way out. The future looks so hopeless.
Psalm 33: 18 – 20 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, 19 to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield
Noise: “Lord, sometimes I feel I must have offended you. Is this trial a judgment of some kind? Will it ever end?”
Psalm 34:6-8, 15, 17, 19 “I give you my Word.” “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord camps around them that fear him, and delivers them. O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in him….
“The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry…. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles…. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all….”
