- JAH name of god
Our theme for 2015 is Restoration
Talk a little bit about God restoring men to the fullness of who they are intended to be
David became king and the first desire of his heart was to bring the ark (presence of God) to Jerusalem.
he realized that when God’s presence was with us, anything could happen.
Psalm 68: was written for the occasion of the return of the Ark. In there he talks about the power of God in defeating the enemies that come against us and yet the tenderness of God to take care of those who are powerless to defend themselves.
Lookout the start of the Psalm Vs 1 rise up as they picked up the ark and began to walk.
Quote of Moses when the cloud moved and the camp would follow.
“Arise O Lord and let your enemies be scattered! Let them flee before you! And when the Ark was set down, he would say, Return O Lord to the countless thousands of Israel.” Numbers 10: 35
Name for God in Psalm 68 is JAH
2. God is a consuming Fire
Seeing we are talking on Restoration Let’s look at God’s original intention for man.
Deuteronomy 4: 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire
the name for fire is esh two Hebrew letters Aleph and shin (You can look up these symbols online)
Genesis 2: 7 God formed man in his image. Hebrew word for man is ish spelled with three Hebrew letters Aleph, yod shin. Remove the yod and you have the word for fire.
The Hebrew word for woman is ishah spelled aleph, shim heh. remove the heh and once again you have esh or the meaning of fire.
Look at two letters added to fire to make man and woman. JAH when married, the divine presence of God is in their midst.
There is a consuming fire in the heart of every man and woman. When they marry, two fires are brought together that are capable of destroying each other and those around them if not properly attended.
3. Blessing of JAH in midst
- Adam blessed Eve
- They had children.
- Take care of the garden and tend it.
4. Curse of losing JAH
Man fell and the fire started to consume each other.
Adam blamed Eve for his problems.
Had a child and without God in their midst, they produced the first murderer.
Missing generations Genesis 5: 1 Descendants, or Generations, but in Hebrew letter missing
Mark Biltz “Letter missing from word generations something missing here.”
(Hebrew letter VaV or sixth letter) Fallen man
Restored in Ruth 4: 18 mentioning of David as king
God is working Various covenants (Noah, Abraham, Moses) through mankind until he reaches David the final covenant. The restoration of fallen man would come through the line of David.
“As was the earthly man (that’s the fallen man, the man without the tav) so are those who are of the earth (there is something missing) and as is the man from heaven (full and complete) so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man (fallen and earthly) so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven (restored and complete) 1 Corinthians 15: 47, 48
5. Restored Man in this world.
So your heads are not just filled with a lot of facts, lets put this together to show you what it means for you.
- David passionate about bringing presence of God back to Israel
- Wrote Psalm 68 that shows what happens when God’s presence comes back to people.
- Quoted Moses arise and our enemies are scattered and destroyed yet be tender to the fatherless and widows.
- God in our midst, we are a fire that warms and blesses releasing people to be who they are called to be.
- But, without you in our midst, we will consume each other.
- We are missing Jesus in our lives and we fall into disarray generation after generation.
- Jesus returns and we are restored and complete.
- David returning ark to its place and first thing he did was bless the people and his own family. (2 Samuel 6: 18 – 20) Same thing Adam did to Eve.
Psalm 68: 35 God is Awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
