      1. If you have a problem with this, then you also have to have a problem with God choosing Abraham from all the people to be his covenant partner, god choosing one family, Levi, to enter his presence, and God speaking through one person Moses instead of all of Israel.

2. Because

  1. It shall come to pass Deuteronomy 7: 12
    1. Deuteronomy begins to tell us the blessing for obedience to God and His ways.
  2. We are unable to obey
    1. We are going to get to the total blessings of Deuteronomy and we always state if we obey the curse will not be on us.  That is so hard because none of us obey.
  3. Rabbi stated that Jesus is our great because…
    1. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5: 8
    2. Because of his righteousness
    3. Because of his sacrificial death
    4. because of his gospel call to repentance…
    5. We are able to enjoy the blessings of Deuteronomy 7: 13

3. God’s Covenant with Adam

  1. Adam broke God’s covenant Hosea 6: 7 Like Adam you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.
  2. God will put hostility between us and the devil
    1. We try to fix this ourselves because men are made to fix things. (talking over problem with your wife we always have the answer)
    2. Law is trying to fix our own problems
  3. Ten commandments are not the standard to be good, but the standard to point out how we fall short.
    1. Stone a son who is rebellious. Deuteronomy 21: 18 – 21 this shows we should all be dead.
    2. Town afraid, we should all be afraid because we all fall short. Romans 3: 23
  4. Is it fair to only promise blessings on those who obey and then none of us can obey?

3. Jesus is perfect obedience.

    1. Jesus given as a covenant for the people. Vs 6

  2. Jesus is only one who can come and bring salvation Isaiah 49: 8

      1. We can’t add Jesus to what we are doing
      2. Pascal hole in our hearts is Jesus
      3. Need a whole new heart
      4. Old Wine skins
        1. No time to discuss old traditions. Jesus did not come to add the missing piece to our theology, He is the whole new garment.
        2. New wineskins are needed so both are preserved
        3. Some prefer the Old wineskins Luke 5:38,39
        4. We get drunk on our own works
        5. Elijah, I am no better than my fathers. 1 Kings 19: 4
  3. Jesus is new covenant and only one who can bring salvation by completely obeying the father at a horrible cost Isaiah 53

4. Blessings are ours because of Jesus

  1. Blessings received Deuteronomy 7: 12
    1. If you listen and faithfully obey…
    2. God will keep his covenant with you
  2. Jesus listened and faithfully obeyed…
  3. God can keep his covenant with us.
    1. Boy buying present for father on Christmas.  He tells us what he wants, he gives us the money and we bring it to him in joy, “look what I got you for Christmas
  4. All our works are as ashes before you.
