  3. Jesus quoted this saying in Luke 11: 20 If I cast out demons by the finger of God then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
    1. When a strong man fully armed guards his own house his possessions are undisturbed. But when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armor on which he relied and distributes his plunder. Luke 11: 21 – 22
  4. The battle between Moses and Pharaoh is the battle between Christ and satan
  5. This will culminate in the Passover

2. Last Plague  Passover

  1. Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron 12: 1
    1. this time it is speaking to the two of them instead of just Moses. (Will come back to this)
  2. Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt 12: 1
    1. Why repeat this because we know that they are in Egypt
    2. God is going to deliver them in the midst of the pagan society that they live in
    3. We do not have to try and improve ourselves to attain redemption
    4. God will reveal himself in the pagan society just as Jesus humbled Himself and became a man and become obedient even to the death on the cross. Philippians 7, 8
  3. This will be your spiritual Birthday.
    1. This month shall be the beginning of months for you.  it is to be the first month of the year to you Exodus 12: 2
    2. This can be known as the birth of the nation of Israel
  4. Take a lamb 12: 3
    1. Bring the animal in four days before the actual slaughtering
    2. Jesus rode into Jerusalem and the people proclaimed Him Messiah on the day people would be picking their Passover Lamb.
  5. Make him an unblemished lamb 12 5
    1. 1 Peter 1: 19 through the precious blood as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Messiah.

  6. Keep the lamb for four days and check it for blemishes 12: 6
    1. The Pharisees, Sadducees, and the Herodians all challenged Jesus with their questions trying to find some fault.  Finally Pilate declared that there is no fault in Him.
  7. Kill it at twilight 12: 6
    1. Twilight = between the evenings
    2. According to Jewish tradition, between the evenings means at mid afternoon or at the ninth hour
    3. When did Jesus die? Mark 15: 34 – 38
    4. While Jesus blood spilled, people were spilling the blood of their lambs.
  8. Blood spilled on doorposts as a sign of protection from death
  9. You will eat a Seder meal 12: 8
    1. Seder means set in order.
    2. Unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Vs 8
      1. Matzah has no leven which represents decay or corruption.
      2. You will not allow your holy one to undergo decay Psalm 16: 10
      3. Jesus is called the bread of life John 6: 35
    3. Bitter herbs Vs 8
      1. Anguish of slavery and the bitter lives they lived
      2. Anguish of Gethsemane, Judas betrayal, and cross.
    4. Belt, sandals and staff Vs 11
      1. Jesus sent his disciples out on a mission in Matthew 10 with only one coat and belt and a single staff, and the sandals on their feet.
      2. He told his disciples that they were to prepare to flee Luke 22: 35, 36
    5. This is the Lord’s Passover Vs 11

      1. Abraham called the place the Lord will see Genesis 22: 14
      2. God will see for himself the lamb’s blood.
    7. Cast out the leaven from your house. Vs 15
      1. Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump just as you are in fact unleavened.  For Messiah our Passover also has been sacrificed.  Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5: 7
    8. This is your Exodus Vs 17

      1. The first Gentiles came out with them.

3. The Final Redemption

  1. They brought Joseph’s bones out. 13:9
    1. They are going to carry Joseph’s bones and the ark so two boxes are carried.
  2. At Red Sea they are told to stand back and see the salvation of the Lord.14: 13
    1. Salvation is the name Yeshua so Moses could have said, “Stand back and see Yeshua”
  3. The staff is stretched out.14: 16
    1. Joshua will also bring Israel across the Jordan
      1. Joshua could not give them rest so I have spoken of another day. Hebrews 4: 8
      2. The LORD will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion saying Rule int he midst of your enemies Psalm 11: 2
  4. Israel saw God’s great power which the Lord had used against the Egyptians, the people fear the LORD and they believed in the LORD and in His servant Moses 14: 31
    1. Believe in God, believe also in me John 14: 1
    2. This is why we are called believers.
  5. Final redemption is coming.
    1. Plagues repeated at the final binding of the strongman
      1. blood 7: 20 Revelation 8: 8 and 16: 3 – 6 rivers and water become blood.
      2. Frogs 8: 6 Out of the dragons mouth come evil spirits like frogs 16: 13, 14
      3. Gnats, Swarms and Animal disease 8: 17 Kill, famine, pestilence the wild beasts of the earth. 6: 8
      4. Boils 9: 10 sores on the people with the mark of the beast 16: 1, 2 They did not repent like Pharaoh 16: 11
      5. Hail and fire 9: 23 Never seen before, but will be seen again. Revelation 8: 7
      6. Locusts 9: 35 Revelation 9: 3 they only hurt the people not the green.
      7. Darkness = Revelation 16: 10 Darkness on the earth.
  6. these represent the final purging of sin death and hell.
