- God granted him favor in the prison (Vs 21)

- Favor = working salvation through
- Two of the kings servants fall into disfavor with pharaoh and are thrown in prison

- Cupbearer would be restored after three days (symbol of Messiah is wine flowing like a river after three days)

- Important in this story, God is going to use the seven years to bring reunification between Israel and his son.
- Just as Joseph was cast away from the promised land, Israel has been scattered. Now because of a dream of Pharaoh, a reunification is taking place.

- This is a type of the Gentiles being grafted into the kingdom of God.
- They have two children Ephraim and Manasseh
- Manasseh = God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household
- Ephraim means double fruitful = God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction (favor)
- They hurriedly brought Joseph out 41: 14
- Jacob is going to bless these children but he is going to reverse the order of them
- Ephraim will be more powerful
- Jeroboam is from the tribe of Ephraim.
