1. NOT A FAILURE
SO MUCH INFORMATION OUT THERE ABOUT PARENTING.
pictures on Facebook about making crepes with children in the morning.
How to do everything and they all contradict each other.
DON’T GET THE WHOLE PICTURE IN 170 CHARACTER BULLETINS
FEEL LIKE A FAILURE.
Yell at children you are a bad parent.
If your children would rather eat chocolate and struggle eating broccoli
Just want them in bed
Child has a meltdown and you try to interpret everyone’s looks at you.
Embarrassed if I am “Just at home” with my children.
Constant measuring ourselves with others to see how we are doing
EXAMPLE: growth and weight charts what percentage is your child compared with every other child
I shared a couple of weeks ago that our identity can become consumed with what others think of us. This only leads to frustration in our lives
There is a verse shared with me and helped refocus me and I want to share it with you
Colossians 1: 29 to “this” end I labor struggling with all his energy which so powerfully works in me.”
II. THE “THIS” OF LIFE
Paul was able to bring the focus of his whole life down to one thing. What is the “This” that consumed Paul’s life?
Let’s go backwards to see what the this is that Paul is talking about.
Vs 28 want to present everyone perfect in their relationship with Christ.
Let’s continue to go backwards, we see who everyone really is.
1: 21 those who were far away from God. You were his enemies separated from Him by your evil thoughts and actions.
No one beyond God doing a work in their lives.
III. BATTLE FOR OUR FAMILY
Colossians 1: 9, 10 We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please The Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
God created my children for a purpose and I am praying that they would fulfill that purpose.
This goes beyond families. As a church we need to be consumed with the “this” of seeing our valley changed by the power of God.
EXAMPLE: pornography places bless them to become who you created them to be.
2. Can’t be there for every battle, (bullying) So I don’t pray that they would not
be in the battle, but as Jesus prayed for Peter His faith would not fail Lk 22:32
What do I do if my Child is Not fulfilling that purpose for which they were created…
3. Hosea 2: 6, 7 Fence them in with thorn bushes block path with a wall to make her
loose their way. When they run after their lovers they won’t catch them. They will
search for them and not find them. Then they will say I might as well return to my
husband.
PROMISE
4. Isaiah 55: 11 So shall my word be that goes from my mouth. it shall not return to me
void but will accomplish what I please, and it shall accomplish the thing for which I
sent it.
IV. MENTOR THE GENERATION
One more thing we can do to help mothers keep their focus on the “This”.
Titus 2: 3 – 5 Older women live in a way that honors God… These older women must train the younger to love their husbands and their children…
Nobody is old it just says older Article posted on Facebook and on our website.
It passes so quickly is not really a good statement.
You’ll treasure these moments
Just be happy you have them
Worn out order them a pizza
Volunteer to take the children for an afternoon to give them a break
Raise up a generation of warriors that are consumed with “This”
