Stewardship is “Taking care of someone else’s possessions and making them into what the owner wants them to be.”

  1. Believing the promises

It really comes down to believing the promises that are in the Bible.

  1. First message we mentioned the importance of being able to meditate on the Bible and stand on it and what it says.
  2. This is becoming more important in the days we live in.

1 Samuel 16: 12b, 13 This is the one anoint him. So David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of The Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on.

This is a promise from the Word of God. (Samuel’s mouth) You are to be king of Israel.

2. Goliath shows up.

1 Samuel 17: 1 Philistines camped in Socuoh which belongs to Judah. (Judah means praise) Goliath shows up. Dutch Sheets said in a blog that the name Goliath means exposer, revealer of a person.

A giant will show up and plant itself in the middle of promise of God and challenge what we possess or are believing God for.

  1. Goliath showed up and revealed the character of the army of Israel and Saul. They had no faith in the midst of this battle and where helpless to do anything about it.
  2. Exposer also means indecent exposure or an uncovering of immoral acts.

So basically we have a flood of filth coming at Israel and they are helpless to do anything about it.

3. Stirred

1 Samuel 17: 26 Who is this pagan Philistine anyway that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God.

History is littered with people who bring changes because they are stirred with what they see around them.

  1. David Brainard Indians in a drunken fury fell in snow and prayed
  2. John Knox give me Scotland or I die
  3. John Hyde in India prayed until 10 people a day saved
  4. William Wilberforce seeing shackles that were on slaves a crusade to eliminate slavery in the British empire
  5. Rosa Parks who would not get up from her seat on a bus.

4. How do you know if you are stirred?

Opposition

  2. Paul – demon said Paul I know.
  3. All that live godly lives will suffer persecution.
  4. Going to be opposition

Compromise directly against the word of God.

Genesis 9: 1 God blessed Noah and said be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. (Command)

Chapter 11 Babylonia and settled there.

vs 1 all spoke the same language. Everybody saying the same thing.

Vs 4 make a great city with a tower that reaches to heaven. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.

Beyond the ability of God to flood us again. (God already promised he would not do that again)

Revelation 13: 2 – 4 Worshipped the beast and said who is as great as the beast, Who is able to fight against him. (Same words sang by Miriam after the Red Sea about our God)

5. God will move on your behalf.

God looked down on the beast and threw him into the lake of Fire

God looked down on the Tower of Babel and confused their language.

2 Peter 2: 7 – 10 God knows how to keep the godly and rescue them.

But you don’t know my battle.

Acts 2: 22, 23 People of Israel listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus…God knew what would happen and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him.

God ordained that Jesus would be handed over to the wicked and said that you could do with him what you wanted.

Vs 24 knew death could not hold him.

6. More than stirred,

Israel was stirred and stood against enemy, but did not move past that.

Enemy with its filth still stood in the place of praise.

Battle is not mine it is God’s “this day The Lord will deliver you into my hand and I will strike you down…that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel…for the battle is the Lord’s and he will give you into our hand. Vs 46 – 47

Jesus handed over to death to defeat fear of it and the enemy.

Battle is bigger than you, but it is for those around you too.
