Empowered

1. Being Filled

Acts 1: 4 – 8

Baptized means to dip repeatedly, to immerse to submerge to overwhelm

Jesus is talking about the fulfillment of what John the Baptist prophesied in Matthew 3: 11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

2. Power Controlled

Word for power is the Greek word dunamis = explosive power of the Holy Spirit

this is also the root word for dynamite

1. Power to share Christ boldly

1 Corinthians 2: 4, 5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power

2. Power when we are weak

Romans 8: 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express

3. Power to have hope in a hopeless world

Romans 15: 13 may the God of Hope fill you with the power of the Holy Spirit so you will overflow with Hope

4. Power to experience the fullness of God

Ephesians 1: 17 – 23

3. Drinking in the Spirit

Ephesians 5: 17, 18 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit

Intoxicated with the spirit does not mean acting like a fool (See Vs 15)
